Starting a new diet is hard. Where do I even start??? What’s GOOD for me? Does this follow the diet guidelines and restrictions? Is this REALLY going to help me feel better/look better/lose weight/etc.?
I went dairy-free almost two months ago and have been starting to cut out gluten as well, so I am pretty much on a paleo diet that consists of mostly fruit, vegetables, and ALL the meat I can find. The easiest way I have found to stick to this is to have a go-to grocery list that includes all the basics. After you have this, you can easily swap out veggies and fruits and add anything you need to complete your meal plans for the week.
Here is my go-to starter list that is dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, and gut-healing based:
I always start here because I need these items almost every time I go grocery shopping (though the probiotics I refresh every 30 days). Before I go shopping I take “fruits” and “veggies” and break them down into specifics. Sometimes, when I’m feeling really spontaneous, I just wait and see what looks good or is on sale. Additionally, I plan what meals I’m going to make during the week and alter my veggies and meat accordingly, adding in condiments and other organic ingredients.
For example, this was my complete shopping list for this week:

I eat a (mostly) grain-free, low-dairy diet and my go-to is my spiralizer. Most spiralizer/zoodle-makers can turn zucchini and other softer veggies into noodles, but I wanted one that could do sweet potatoes too. Enter the OXO Good Grips 3-Blade Spiralizer (https://www.amazon.com/OXO-3-Blade-Spiralizer-StrongHold-Suction/dp/B01C2TT2H8). If you’re on a paleo diet and miss pasta this is a life-changer! I’ve taken sweet potatoes and turned them into noodles and topped them with my favorite pasta sauces. I like zucchini noodles too, but sweet potato noodles are my favorite.

I have tried zucchini noodles (zoodles lol) but not sweet potato noodles! I will have to give them a shot! That spiralizer sounds amazing. What is your favorite sauce to use with the sweet potato noodles?

Since I do sometimes eat dairy, my favorite sauce is a carbonara. But they’re also great with a cheese-free pesto. On the zucchini noodles I like a bolognese.

All those veggies look so good! Sweet potatoes are something I’ve really missed since we moved overseas. I can find white or purple yams, but the orange sweet potatoes that I love are nearly impossible to find! I know what I’m eating when I visit the USA….

I couldn’t agree more! To top it off, you’re not starving your body of anything! Just simply filling it up with what is good and pure. 🙂 Thank you for your sweet words!
